Turn away Dodgers fans, the news is not good. Freddie Freeman, who has been an integral part of the Los Angeles setup for the last couple of seasons, has just had offseason surgery. One of the reasons why the Dodgers won the World Series vs. the Yankees, especially his heroics in game 1 of the World Series, Freeman is now recovering and is set to miss part or possibly all of spring training.
It all began during a game against the San Diego Padres, when Freeman sprained his ankle. It would have put him out for 4-6 weeks, meaning he might have missed the World Series. But he was back with the Dodgers after just two weeks for the NLDS. He did miss a few games in October but was back for the ultimate championship.
As reported by the Dodgers Nation’s X handle, “BREAKING: Freddie Freeman will miss the beginning of spring training (and potentially all of it) as he recovers from his offseason surgery. He’s hoping to be ready to go by the Dodgers regular-season opener in Japan. GET WELL SOON, MVP!!”

Freddie Freeman has not given a date for his return, but he is looking forward to returning with the Dodgers on opening day in Japan. The fans have their fingers crossed for him to be back in action as soon as he can. Of course, only time will tell how things go and how he performs after his return.
Dodgers faithful share emotional reactions to Freddie Freeman’s injury update
Eight weeks out from a surgery that removed bone chips and spurs from his right ankle, Freddie Freeman indicated his plans to skip spring training while maintaining his goal to be ready by opening day. Fans showered social media with support immediately after the news broke by sending numerous well-wishes. The team has built their success on Freeman’s solid performance making his recovery the source of widespread public support.
One fan indicated that he should take his time to rest and recover because the baseball season is long.
Take your time, Freddie. It's a very long season.

Freddie Freeman has earned a tremendous amount of respect from Dodgers fans, especially after displaying a World Series MVP-caliber performance against the Yankees. He told the media that he will take part in live batting practice and workouts, although playing in February is unlikely.
Freddie can take all spring season off. We need him at 100% for the season opener at Chavez Ravine ⚾️

Dodgers fans aren’t sweating when it comes to spring training. What really matters is the regular season, and the fans want Freeman fully charged for the big games at Chavez Ravine. When he hit that walk-off home run in the first game of the World Series, fans couldn’t help but compare it to Kirk Gibson’s 1988 World Series walk-off home run. Now they’re waiting for him to be back with that same bat!
I have a hard time believing that Freddie will mis the entirety of Spring ball. He’ll get 7-10 games in at least.

Fans are hopeful that Freddie Freeman won’t miss the entire spring training and will return to the field sooner than they think. His reputation for quickly recovering from injuries makes them hope for that to happen. One fan thinks that he will be able to make it back to the team to play at least 10 games in the spring training. Then he can transition seamlessly into next year and bring over the terrific 2024 form into 2025.
He said he might DH because the Dodgers didn’t have one 🤣
Before anyone comes at me watch his interview— Rudy (@rudymr44) February 2, 2025
Looks like Freddie Freeman is mixing things up with the Dodgers this season. With him dropping some hints that could possibly mean sitting out first base for a new position as DH, fans can’t stop chattering. Why, this could be a good reason to play the slot a little bit differently because Shohei Ohtani has the possibility of being used more both as a hitter and pitcher this season.
Freeman would finally get a much-needed rest to his ankle and still participate on the playing field without much pressure of featuring in every inning. This gives him an opportunity to bat but not put any pressure on his leg. This might just result in a best-of-both-worlds win for Freeman himself and the Dodgers this season.
Take your time, but hurry back!!

“I don’t think I will be in the games at the beginning. It looks like I’m going to start a running progression right when I get to spring training,” Freeman said at Fan Fest Saturday. “As of right now, I am on track to be able to play in Tokyo.”
Given the way Freddie Freeman has dedicated himself to the sport, supporters predict he will return with the ability to guide the team forward. Freeman absolutely has the right to return strong to the field.
