The Texas Rangers signed star shortstop Corey Seager last year in a mind-boggling deal worth $325 million for 10 years, surpassing the one they signed with A-Rod. Fellow outfielder Adolis García was traded into the team in 2019, but he wasn’t made active until 2021 following the injury of Ronald Guzmán. The duo has been unstoppable on the diamond ever since.

After the record win of 11-4 last Tuesday, the team is all set to take up on the D-Backs. Newcomers like Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte have already made noticeable strides across the MLB universe, giving tough competition to the Rangers as the Diamondbacks. They delivered spectacular performances together in Wild Card Game 1 against the Brewers. Are the Rangers ready to ‘lasso’ their victory over the D-Backs?

In their last ALCS Game 7 against the Astros, Garcia scored his MVP double homer, shortly followed by Seager’s single that clinched the game for the team with a massive 11-4 win. This wasn’t the first time that the duo razed their opponents together. In the game right before that, Garcia hit a grand slam against the Astros, combined with Seager’s double hits and an RBI. Their performances were a major factor in forcing Game 7 into existence after tying the lead with the Astros. Just a few weeks before that, they destroyed the Orioles after bagging a combined homer in the first half of the game, securing a 7-1 win for the team. It is inferred that they’ll keep playing together for the rest of the AL West series in such an electrifying form.

Seager and Garcia both hit 33 homers the previous season. Garcia led that season’s American League with 101 RBIs, followed by Seager’s 80. The 2022 Hank Aaron Awards, exclusive to the best offenders of each league, named both of them as finalists.

Diamondbacks achievers Carroll and Marte, on the other hand, have also shown remarkable form this year. They both started this postseason with a record high of safe hits across 14 games. Marte’s NLCS MVP followed this win, stretching his streak to 16. It was the highest record set by a postseason rookie in MLB’s history. Just like Rangers duo Carroll and Marte, they are instrumental in leading their team to the World Series in an ultimate face-off.

Both teams have a good chance at victory regarding their star players’ comparative statistics. While Garcia is in the lead with 107 RBIs, Carroll isn’t very far behind with 76. The Rangers duo led the AL last season with their record 33 and 27 homers. The D-Backs twins scored a set of 28 and 25 homers. Carroll led the team in their 2022 season with 32 stolen bases, compared to Garcia’s 25.

Needless to say, it’s a level playing field, with both sides having the same weight of talent. We can get lost in a barrage of their statistics all we want. That won’t change the fact that the most-suited contenders for MLB 2023 have finally come face-to-face.
