In 2022, DJ LeMahieu was key for the New York Yankees, providing them with good leadoff hitting and excellent defense. LeMahieu was excellent on defense the entire season, winning a Gold Glove in the process. But a toe injury impacted his batting numbers significantly and kept him out of the postseason entirely. The Yankee’s hitting coach Dillon Lawson recently spoke to the New York Post and stated that LeMaheiu will most likely start on Opening Day. According to New York Post’s Dan Martin, Lawson said “He looks healthy, whether it’s in the weight room or on defense or hitting. He’s pushing it with everything, and he’s able to do it. If you didn’t know how last year ended, you wouldn’t think anything of it, but we all saw that.”
