Though he succeeded in purchasing the luxurious property in Central Park West, A-Rod had to reportedly beg the building’s board for buying the swanky Manhattan co-op. He bought the property for almost $10 million.
Why did someone like Alex Rodriguez beg for a $9.9 million property?
Per the New York Post, the building’s board did not want a celebrity as big as Alex Rodriguez to live in their building. And that was the main reason the board denied selling the co-op to A-Rod in the first place. But A-Rod is A-Rod. He did everything he could to get the property in his name.
“The board did not want someone with A-Rod’s “reputation,” a source revealed the matter to the NY Post.
“He almost didn’t get accepted and begged the board to accept him. He had a tantrum and then they said ‘yes.’ It is a typical white-glove Central Park West co-op,” the NY Post report said. “They don’t want anyone with celebrity status living here. That is not what they are going for.”
