Home/MLB

MLB’s spring training has begun and Opening Day is slowly creeping up on baseball fans. Another high-adrenaline and nail-biting season will be here before anyone knows it. Most teams have stocked up on talented players and the rosters look good despite a few injuries here and there. Now the question arises – who has the best rotation in MLB so far? Is it the world-famous Yankees? The Mariners? The Brewers? Or, perhaps, last year’s World Series Champs, the Houston Astros?

Everyone has their own opinions – Max Scherzer, Kodai Senga, and Justin Verlander strongly favor the Mets, but then there’s Framber Valdez and Cristian Javier for the Astros. The Atlanta Braves might be a surprise package by taking the lead with the likes of Spencer Strider, Kyle Wright, and Max Fried. With an amazing number of players all around, the team performances will have to speak for themselves when the season rolls around. And then there are the Yankees, who also have a star-studded rotation by their side. But are they enough to top all MLB franchises?

Brandon K. Scott from B/R Walk-Off recently shared his opinions on leading team rotations for the upcoming season. Per him, the top 5 are the Yankees, Mets, Astros, Braves, and Brewers. It’s undeniable that all five teams have a strong roster with some power pitchers that could turn the tide of a game. But some people were particularly incensed to see the Yankees at the top.

The Bronx Bombers boast names like Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon on this year’s rotation. Not to mention Nestor Cortes Jr. But are they enough to lead the team to the top? Baseball fans certainly don’t think so!

In addition to ridiculing the current teams, people are clamoring for their own favorites to be added to the list – the Mariners, Rangers, and Phillies are glaringly absent.

If not the Yankees, who have a chance at being at the top?

Despite all the trolling, the Bronx Bombers do actually stand a good chance at taking the lead. Luis Severino is among one of the best pitchers in MLB and despite his rough start, Frankie Montas may surprise us all yet. But let’s say the Pinstripes do sink to the bottom, then who can take their spot?

The Mets, as we’ve already seen, are strong contenders. Despite losing three-times Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander, the Astros could also step up their game. And maybe not at the top of the list, but the Toronto Blue Jays won’t be left far behind. After all, the trio of Kevin Gausman, Alek Manoah, and Chris Bassitt is not to be underestimated.
