If someone is in need of cheering up right now, just gift them a ticket to a Savannah Bananas game. Ask anyone, and that honestly means anyone, the Banana Ball will bring a smile to most people’s faces. A version of baseball solely created for entertainment purposes, the exhibition team is slowly taking over the world, as well as people’s hearts.

One person from management once even described themselves as a circus where a baseball game just happens to break out. While people would assume it’s the other way around! Each player is as enthusiastic about the antics as their founder, Jesse Cole. Line dancing, bats on fire, backflips in the middle of a game – this is just a small list of the stunts the team has pulled.

And recently, the team may have broken a record that actually did have to do with baseball!

The Savannah Bananas deal out what may be the fastest strikeout ever

Spring training for MLB is in full swing and players are getting a feel for the rule changes before the upcoming season. In a recent Yankees vs Pirates game, Wandy Peralta from the Bronx struck out Pittsburgh’s Tucupita Marcano in a mere 20 seconds. Taking that as a personal challenge, the Bananas set out to break the record the very same day. And guess what, they actually ended up doing it!

Of course, this major moment in history wouldn’t be complete without the Bananas breaking out into song and dance. The pitcher, Kyle Luigs, met in the middle of the pitch with the catcher behind the batter and the two danced a little two-step to celebrate their victory.

What did the fans think of the Bananas creating history?

The Bananas have already set and crossed several milestones with their unique approach to baseball. Their often sold-out stadium has long waitlists for crowds just waiting to join in on the fun. When the team announced their current tour, their website shut down for three days because of excessive traffic.
