In the process of fouling and homering, this young talent in the process created a little postseason history. Alek Thomas hit a home run during his plate appearance in the seventh inning after facing 14 pitches. According to MLB reporter Sarah Langs, this achievement signifies two significant aspects. First, that’s “the most pitches in a PA ending in an HR in the postseason since pitch counts tracked (1988.)“. Second, that’s “the most pitches in a PA ending in a HR in D-Backs franchise history (reg + post)”.

Diamondbacks players tonight blasted three out of their four home runs with players under the age of 23. Historically, there have only been two such instances in Major League playoffs.

As per MLB.com Thomas, addressing his at-bat and the iconic HomeRun, added, “Man, that was a really cool at-bat. Probably the longest at-bat ever of my life. So it was pretty sweet to end it on a homer.” Thomas’ 427-foot homer was the longest of the D-backs’ four home runs pitching against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. No wonder it brought the D-Backs to victory.

With the 11-2 win, the D-backs currently are in the lead of the series 1-0. They assure that at least two home games will be played at Chase Field. On Monday night’s game, two of the NLDS will begin after a day’s rest (tomorrow). Nevertheless, having wound up this game crushing Clayton Kershaw was a pretty big deal for Arizona.

A Brutal and Rapid Destruction of Clayton Kershaw

In Game 1, they’ve thrown everything at Clayton Kershaw. During the first inning, a future Hall of Famer failed to make it out and D-Backs led 9-0 after two innings. His poorest postseason start ever came in Game 1 against the Diamondbacks. While recording only one out, Kershaw was tagged for six runs, and he quite visibility became vulnerable.
