Fans of the Bronx Bombers are extremely happy that their star player is staying with the team. But Alex Rodriguez had some interesting things to say about the 9-year $360 million deal.
Alex Rodriguez is confused by the size of the contract
Alex Rodriguez seems to be confused by the amount of money and time it took to re-sign Aaron Judge. During an interview on ESPN, the former Yankee said “Yeah, I mean, I’m not in the business of just throwing an extra $260 million at an asset that you knew you loved him 10 years ago when he got into your system.”
“I’m not sure why it took 10 years and $360 million to bring Aaron Judge back. You knew where it was going, and ultimately you paid a premium. But for New York, for baseball and for the Yankees it is a tremendous day.”
A-Rod is questioning the amount of money the Yankees have given Judge. Even though he believes it is a great deal for the team. Additionally, A-Rod finds it surprising that it took the team this long to agree on a deal with Judge.

Notably, even though the Yankees have extended Judge’s stay for 9 more years, it will be interesting to see whether the reigning AL MVP will be able to justify his huge price tag in the coming years.
This isn’t the first time that A-Rod has said this:
When Judge rejected the 7-year $213 million extension offer from the Yankees, A-Rod said something similar. He questioned why the Yankees took so many years to try and sign Judge on a new deal. On an episode of the Kay Rod cast, A-Rod said ” Within 9 minutes of meeting Aaron Judge you know that this is the guy that you want to build your franchise around.”
