Having won 27 World Series titles and 40 AL pennants, the New York Yankees, up until now, were considered one of the best teams in the entire league. However, that has now severely changed. It is because of the team’s inability to put on a power-packed roster that is healthy and robust enough to maintain its reputation. The Yankees haven’t won a World Series title in 13 years now. And considering their history of winning the Fall Classics, this is the third-lowest record in the franchise’s history. This year is no different.

The Yanks are in the middle of their series against the San Diego Padres. And they have already lost game 1 and won game 2 of the series. The team, which is supposed to be the strongest and fiercest in the entire league, is now struggling to avoid the bottom of their division. Despite this, famous radio host Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo thinks that the Yankees deserve to be in the top 3 of their division.

Where do the New York Yankees stand now?

The Yankees, after the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles, are, in fact, at the third position of their division, AL East. And, if their subpar play remains consistent, there is a high possibility of them going down on the list. However, Russo does not think so.

During his show, Turn Up Heat, when he got asked to rank the top 3 AL East teams, he said, “Tampa, Yankees, and Baltimore.” While the Yanks right now seem to be struggling to hold down the third position, Russo thinks that they should be in the second position.

While explaining his answer, Russo said, “I’m not ready to put Baltimore ahead of the Yankees.” However, when he got asked to rank the teams at the moment they are right now, the Yanks received third place. 

Up until this moment, the pinstripers have played 54 games. Of which, they have lost 23 and won 31. They recently won their second game of the series against the San Diego Padres, bringing the series to a tie.
