Aaron Judge will not be taken down so easily. The New York Yankees are almost certainly going to end another season with no playoff appearance. The Baby Bombers experiment has collapsed with Jasson Dominguez on the IL. But while the other youngsters may still be trying to contribute, the captain is on another level.

Aaron Judge is no stranger to injuries but the incident at Dodger Stadium on June 3 took the cake. The two months he was out caused him to miss a series against the Bronx’s sworn enemies in the league. Now that they were once again up against the Boston Red Sox, the reigning AL MVP went all out. It all culminated in his 32nd home run of the season.

Rain delays had caused some frustration in Boston but the last two of the Yankees vs. Red Sox four-game series took place in a doubleheader on Thursday. After winning the previous two games, the Bronx Bombers were confident, but then Boston took the third. The Yankees then finally won a series against the BoSox this year as Aaron Judge started things off with a grand slam in the second inning.

Even though some fans could be heard cheering, Fenway Park was largely quiet as they saw their rivals gain the upper hand. Judge spoke to reporters later on, seemingly over the moon about the 8-5 win. “It was big time,” the captain said. “I had a couple of opportunities the past couple of days to get some runs in and hadn?t come through.”

“I just got in a good count; that?s what the name of the game is. Get in a good count, get some good pitches to hit and hopefully you don?t miss them.”?It’s almost a surety that the Yankees won’t make it to the postseason in 2023, but Judge believes that is no excuse to not give one’s best. His 9-year, $360 million contract was no fluke and the captain is proving why he deserves it. However, another question looms.

The toe injury sustained at Dodger Stadium has still not healed completely, and there was even a mention of offseason surgery. But Judge made it clear he would play through the pain if he had to because his team needed him. The Yankees’ offensive production has been up since he rejoined but that doesn’t mean the outfielder isn’t struggling.

As he admitted, the final play against Boston came after a few unsuccessful nights. This led to the question if manager Aaron Boone would rest the captain for the remainder of the season in favor of younger players. But as per NJ’s Max Goodman, the manager believes Judge wants to play.

Fans equally want to see him in the lineup simply because his presence increases the chances of a victory. Hopefully, the Yankees can end the season on a good note despite previous disappointments.
