Will the Dodgers-Yankees showdown live up to Mahomes' hype as the game of the decade?

Patrick Mahomes, the NFL star, went viral a few weeks back – not for his football skill but because of his reaction during the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees ALDS game. The Royals had tied the game, bringing a ray of hope to the Kansas fans. Then, the cameras panned to the audience for their reaction, and among them was a loud one, coming from none other than the three-time Super Bowl champion. Mahomes was going berserk in the stands; he got into the face of his Chiefs teammate, who happened to be a Yankee fan, and the moment was hilarious.

That priceless reaction by Patrick Mahomes is justified, given that the Kansas City Chiefs’s quarterback is part owner of the Royals. Plus, he has been an avid supporter, posting plenty on his socials. However, that happiness only lasted so long, as the Royals lost four games and were eliminated out of the series. But Mahomes is a good sport, so, even if it was the Yankees who hurried along them to the outs, he is still pumped to have a plausible Dodgers-Yankees showdown!

Mahomes won the highly anticipated matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, marking the first time the Kansas City Chiefs were facing the 49ers since last February’s Super Bowl. Before that sweet win, Patrick Mahomes took time to chat with one of the best in the game, Tom Brady. The duo, although are NFL giants, talked all about Major League Baseball, and of course, Mahomes’ hilarious reaction during the games.

The Kansas City Royals lost against the Yankees but Mahomes is thrilled about what’s next. “The Yankees, man, they look like a powerhouse,” he said to Tom Brady. According to Patrick Mahomes, the postseason games made him feel both nervous and excited, and that is how even after the loss, he has been hooked on the television watching the games.

Furthermore, Patrick Mahomes admitted that his wife Brittany is mad because she cannot watch all her Netflix Series. After all, the game is always on; as for his reaction, Mahomes emphasized he was ‘hyped’ up. That’s understandable, given he is the owner of the Royals team, so it’s great that the Kansas City icon is supporting other teams in the city. Not to forget Mahomes has seriously bonded with Bobby Witt Jr., over time. Talking to Brady, he further added, “Yankees Dodgers series might end up being the crazy one,” and he isn’t wrong—this could be the game of the decade!

This is because the Los Angeles Dodgers and Yankees represent the largest TV markets in the US. So FOX has much to gain from it. Plus, their viewership in 2023 had dropped to a low of 4.7 rating, when the Rangers and Diamondbacks met for the World Series. Hence, with the heavyweight clash of the two biggest teams of MLB, the ratings are bound to go up. Judge and Ohtani, two heroes of the regular season meeting- this has got to attract an audience.
