Chandler Bing of the ‘FRIENDS’ fame never really was good at playing a game, though his statistical skills were way beyond the realm of the ordinary. His corporeal doppelgänger, Matthew Perry, on the other hand, was an avid fan of baseball, much like his on-screen persona and his best friend, Joey. They used to go gaga over the New York Yankees.

A Toronto Blue Jays hat was often seen adorning Chandler’s background in the show. Matthew Perry, in real life, was a die-hard Blue Jays fan. He demanded that the hat be there to reflect his real-life passion through his on-screen persona. Perry also appeared in a famous Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres game back in 2012. Perry revealed himself as a hustler on the low with his pitching skills that day. Now, isn’t that interesting?

Perry, AKA Chandler Muriel Bing, went to the Dodgers match to throw an honorary first pitch on the team’s behalf. He went there to promote his latest show, “Go On,” which pertained much to Perry’s motto of never giving up when the time’s a bit tough. Despite the fans’ cheers, the perfectionist in him felt unsatisfied with the pitch.

The fan favorite ‘Chan-Chan Man’ wasn’t very impressed, going as far as to say, “You’re not used to throwing from the mound. So it bounced, but it bounced close enough to catch it,” per the Entertainment Weekly representative.

Matthew Perry played a sports radio show host who joins a transformative therapy group after the demise of his wife in “Go On”. He has always shined as a slice-of-life character. Chandler, for instance, was a statistical analysis and data reconfiguration specialist for a big data company.

Famous for his humor and super-friendly personality, Chandler was always the one all the other friends could fall back on. He was the one who was there for them, as he was there for the Dodgers that day. Now here’s a little nugget for the fans of NBC sitcom FRIENDS and MLB: Perry used to be an All-Star player before the fame game knew his name.

Boss Man Bing used to be a big name in the tennis world before showing off his skills on camera. In the ‘80s, he achieved a national ranking in Canada as a junior player. Following in the footsteps of his father, actor John Bennett Perry of “Days of Our Lives” and Old Spice commercial fame, was never Matthew’s true intention.

Perry moved with his dad to Los Angeles so that he could focus on his tennis career. He gave up on that after realizing how tough the competition was in L.A. Reflecting on the same in a Late Show with David Letterman segment, Matthew said, “I quickly realized being a nationally ranked tennis player in Canada is like being a good hockey player in Burbank.
