Giancarlo Stanton has been under scrutiny in the Yankees clubhouse for the last three months after showing a sub-par performance throughout the season. That and numerous health complications aside, the player is quite intent on getting back in shape before the 2024 games arrive, and manager Aaron Boone couldn’t be more supportive of it.
Contrary to previous comments made by GM Cashman, Boone has always been confident in Stanton’s ability to revert to his 2012 form. Be it praising his record-breaking homers or predicting a successful year for the slugger, the team’s manager has seldom shied away from being vocal about Stanton’s capabilities, and his recent interview with the in-house news team proved it further.

According to the Yankees Beat, Giancarlo Stanton has been heavily disappointed with his performance this season. “It’s got to change,” the slugger remarked back in September, pointing at the stats he racked up this year. Boone reflected on that determined outlook of Stanton, stating how he has always been in shape, but losing some weight could prove beneficial for his goal. Giancarlo Stanton intends to improve his gameplay by working on his athleticism, which includes shedding some of his 245-pound, 6.6-foot stature. He felt the need to work on his weight after he felt it affecting his mobility while trying to avoid a bottom-half injury on the field.

“I think he’s consumed with making sure that he goes out there and has a Giancarlo-like season. I think G’s got a big year in him, I really do.” All of this surfaced after Stanton ended this season with an average record under his belt.
