The New York Yankees lost many star players to retirement in the last decade. Be it Derek Jeter or Alex Rodriguez, their retirements left a big void for the Yankees to fill. Given the challenges, it was not a straightforward thing to do, but Aaron Judge has fulfilled this void since his MLB debut. The current Yankees captain has not only performed on the plate but also showed his brilliant leadership skills, which made him a complete team player. However, his rookie glory revealed that he is ‘a man who puts his team first.’

Given that it is a dream of every baseball player to be a part of a star team, Judge completed it in his rookie year because of his sheer dominance on the baseball field. But instead of taking credit, the $360 million star credited his teammates for the glory.

On page 108 of the book, Aaron Judge: The Incredible Story of the New York Yankees’ Home Run-Hitting Phenom, author David Fischer has written about the same. The story goes as, ” In his rookie campaign, Judge was the highest vote-getter for the American League All-Star team, collecting 4,488,702 votes—and for good reason.”

Attributing his sole success to the unwavering support of his teammates, Judge’s account read, “It’s pretty incredible. Any time you get [recognized] like this, I feel like it’s a team award. If I look back, I wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for my teammates that put me in a good position. I’m always coming up with runners on base. I’m always coming up in big situations to do a job.”

Although it takes something unique for a player in his rookie season to do so, Judge continues to add more to it with his groundbreaking actions.
