Finally. With one game to go in the 2022 regular season, New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge hit the ball straight to the bleachers to record his 62nd home run of 2022. He’s now crossed Roger Maris’ 61, from 1961, and now holds the record for most home runs in a single American League season.

Throughout his extremely prolonged journey from 60 to 62, fans have eagerly waited for the moment. Some had flown from NYC to Toronto and now, ultimately, their much-awaited home run arrived at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. And after waiting this long, you can’t really blame these fans for going all out in an attempt to catch Judge’s homer.

How far was a fan willing to go to catch The Judge’s 62nd?

And a fan did exactly that. In a miscalculated but arguably bold attempt to retrieve Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball, as can be seen in the video below, a fan went all the way and landed straight in the gap between the ballpark and bleachers.

While the fan was physically fine, citing trespassing, security guided him outside the stadium. Back in 2012, a fan fell to his death after trying to catch a home run by Josh Hamilton.

While the intention behind the jump could be considered pure, it would only seem smart if he managed to catch the ball. Or simply land near it. But neither of that happened as the ball landed around ten seats away from him. And this is how the other fans reacted to this extreme display of fandom.

As the game moved ahead after Judge’s homer, the Texas Rangers took the lead in the fifth innings and went on to defeat the New York Yankees 3-2. After yesterday’s game’s conclusion, the Yanks and the Rangers have one last game left in the regular season. While the Rangers return home, the Yankees will start preparing for a historically significant post-season.

Will Aaron Judge attain the magnificent Triple Crown?

The batting Triple Crown undoubtedly isn’t an easy award to obtain. Miguel Cabrera last won the award in 2012. Since then, there has been no one nearly approaching the Crown. However, the story is slightly different this year. Aaron Judge, who has just smashed his 62nd home run, could be on track to win the esteemed award this year. That being said, while Judge leads the list of homers significantly at 62 and RBIs at 131, the outfielder is yet to cover Luis Arraez, who’s been batting at 0.315 while Judge is at 0.311.
