The sports world currently has America in its clutches as fans enjoy watching their favorite players in action. Baseball season is in full swing as teams celebrate victories or try to move on from upsetting losses. But another sport that has captured everyone’s attention is boxing. One exciting match-up that took place recently was the much-awaited game between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis. And supporting these players in the stands was former New York Yankees star CC Sabathia.

The ex-pitcher played in Pinstripes at the same time as ex-captain Derek Jeter. He retired in 2019 after a successful career with a list of achievements that is a mile long. A force to be reckoned with on the baseball diamond, Sabathia was a staunch champion of his game. But besides baseball, he is also a fan of various other sports, including boxing.

In recent years, the sport of boxing has taken a life of its own. Veteran stars competing with newer talent has added another layer of excitement. An extremely popular sport that shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon has attracted fans from all walks of life. CC Sabathia also apparently counts himself among those that were eagerly awaiting a Garcia-Davis battle.

The retired pitcher posted a series of videos to Instagram stories that he recorded from the arena. The first of them shows the audience and then later zooms in toward the ring. Garcia can be seen being escorted out with a camera in front of his face as he turns to the audience and takes a bow. The next couple of stories show performances in the ring, and in the last one, crowds can be heard cheering loudly for the winner.

What happened when Tank Davis came up against Garcia?

Davis won, of course! Tensions were running high, and the punches were flying hard. Always a hard-hitter, many expected Davis to clinch the match with an easy victory. But the younger player was nothing to joke about and gave Davis a game worthy of the sport. Yet, it was the Tank that ultimately emerged victorious.

How? With a vicious body shot, of course. In the seventh round, the elite boxer showcased the superiority of his experience as he put his analysis of Garcia to use and bring him to his knees with a left-handed liver punch. It was certainly a thrilling match-up to watch, which Sabathia sure enjoyed!
