Once again, Derek Jeter‘s Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament was a success. The former Yankee’s Turn 2 Foundation hosts the event annually to raise funds for kids. While the aim of the tourney is to help youngsters, Jeter enjoys watching people struggle at the game too. From entertainment personalities to former teammates to other sports athletes, no one is off limits.
This year, one such personality included Radio Hall of Famer Angie Martinez. The former Voice of New York is quite the avid golfer and made her second appearance at the invitational. However, Martinez has gone through some struggles after being in a serious car accident in late 2019. Her resilience has given encouragement to many, and Jeter’s sister Sharlee is one of them.

When news of the accident broke out, it was revealed that Martinez had sustained serious injuries, including shattered vertebrae and a fractured lumbar. She quite literally broke her back. However, the radio personality and rapper is not one to let things get her down easily. She was present at last year’s invitational as the emcee and made an appearance this year too. Although the event is now over, the aftereffects are clearly still being felt.
