Like most baseball players, Derek Jeter had a busy schedule during his career. The former Yankee star was always busy either playing or working out. Even during the offseason, Jeter barely had extra time. Furthermore, the Yankee legend was always busy during the summer because the season would be going on.

But after retirement, all of that changed. However, Jeter was still strict with his schedule and planning, but he had more leeway. Shortly after retirement, the baseball legend opened up on an activity he hadn’t taken part in during summertime for 30 years.    

Derek Jeter visited his grandparent’s house during summer for the first time in 30 years

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, Jeter opened up on retirement and the things he’d been doing. The Yankee star said that he visited his grandparent’s house during summer for the first time since he was 11. He was 41 years old during the interview, so that makes it 30 years since he’d last visited his grandparents during the summer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeter said “I went to my grandparents’ house. The last time I was there in the summer was when I was 11”. He further said, “And I had a barbecue at my house on the Fourth of July. First time ever.”

Jeter was able to do a lot more after retiring. The Yankee superstar admitted it felt weird to not be playing, but that he didn’t miss it. Furthermore, a lot of different ventures and endeavors have kept the 5-time World Series Champion busy.

A lot has happened in Jeter’s life since 2015

Since 2015, a lot has changed in the life of Derek Jeter. The Yankee star is now happily married to Hannah Jeter and they have three daughters together. He is not currently involved in baseball, but it is not for a lack of trying. Aaron Judge, the current Yankees captain, reportedly tried to recruit Jeter back to the Yankees.

But the former Yankee star has not decided on his next step in baseball. Currently, Jeter is enjoying being a father and staying present for as many moments as he can.
