Derek Jeter, Who Did Everything to Keep His Life Private, Reveals What Forced Him to Embrace Social Media

There is one thing in life that the legendary shortstop Derek Jeter tried to stay away from as long as he could. And that was joining social media. The Captain had always wanted to keep his personal life separate from the media and his career. Therefore, he decided to not join Social Media until it was absolutely necessary to do so.

The shortstop has previously mentioned how he grew up in New York and that he’s been there since he was 20. He also understands that people want to know about him, what he does when he’s not playing, and other stuff, but he had to draw the line at some point. He also had his way of balancing his personal life with his professional endeavors. No matter how the game went, he never took his professional commitments home. 

Even when he did decide to join social media after people tried to persuade him for years, he still keeps most of the details about his personal life private. Once again, he decided to talk about the reason behind finally joining social media.

What was the reason behind Derek Jeter joining social media earlier this year?

People have been trying for years to get Jeter on social media, but the shortstop never budged from his decision. Recently, in a podcast, he even said that he hated social media, and he wouldn’t have joined it if it wasn’t for some worthy cause. 

 “I swore on that one I will never do (join social media) as well, but I get it you know, you have a lot of projects, I have a lot of things I’m interested in, you want to share it with the world,” said Jeter.

The reason behind Jeter joining social media was that he had multiple projects coming up. And he wanted to share them with his fans and well-wishers. One of his recent projects is the athlete’s apparel, Greatness Wins. Another one is a new trading card platform to attract investors.
