In layman’s terms, fWAR is a statistic used to measure how valuable a baseball player is to their team. It combines their offensive and defensive stats to give a single number representing their overall contribution. The higher the number, the better the contribution. It is used to compare players and help determine their value to a team. And when talking about adding value to their team, it will be difficult not to talk about Derek Jeter. However, recent fWAR data suggests that the current Mets shortstop has a better record than the Yankees legend.
Recently, a Twitter conversation pitted Francisco Lindor and Derek Jeter against each other in a comparison of their fWAR numbers at 28 years old. Lindor’s fWAR came out to an impressive 42.0, while Jeter’s was still an impressive 32.5. It’s clear that both Lindor and Jeter have been integral parts of their teams. MLB fans also reacted to this Lindor-Jeter comparison.

Taking to Twitter, MLB fans could control but reacted to this comparison. Jeter’s supporters point to his multiple World Series rings and all-around stats as evidence of his excellence over Lindor.
As a Mets fan and and fan a baseball DEREK JETER STILL GOT 5 RINGS until people don’t get that thru there heads that all these stats really don’t matter to @derekjeter because all he cared about was winning and he did 5times stop comparing him to players that haven’t won like him

Fun comparison, but how about he leads the team to a World Series first.

Do you actually look at this stat and try to compare one player to a a Hall of Fame legend. Cmon

I love Lindor and the Mets but unfortunately if he doesn't lead us to multiple rings, this stat means nothing.

Derek Jeter is far better and I am not a Yankee fan; no comparison here.

While Lindor’s fans argue that Jeter had more support from his teammates and that if he had the same kind of support, he’d be on par with Jeter. Some fans even did not hesitate to say that Jeter is overrated.
That’s because Jeter is and always will be the most overrated player to ever play in the MLB lol

If Lindor can perform consistently through age 38, i think he'll be in the hall of fame too.

Hears everyone talking about world series or rings, his 3rd base isn't Alex Rodriguez, his 2nd base isn't Cano or 1st base isn't Gambi or Teixeira.. can we keep going? Give him a team like that and let me know what happens 😀

Yeah Jeter was a defensive liability
