While one knows well that the Yankees’ shortstop and MLB star is nothing short of legendary, he has had his moments of doubts. History has documented his rookie season, filled with accolades and championships. Starting his career as early as 1995, he knew he was here to stay. In 1996, when the Yankees clinched their first World Series title in 18 years, the victory tasted too good to ever forget. But fate took a strange turn and it made him forget what victory tastes like.

In a talk with GQ Sports earlier this year, Derek revealed what happened. After the Yankees’ initial World Series victory, Jeter and the Yankees anticipated more. However, as the years passed, the dry spell grew longer. He said, “It had been a long time since we’d won. We hadn’t won in 9 years, and it just goes to show you how hard it is to do so.”

A nine-year gap without a World Series title for the Yankees was like an eternity. Nostalgically, he added. “I don’t want to say you forget what it feels like. But you need to be reminded of what it feels like.”

Today, 14 years later, Derek Jeter is a name that echoes through the Hall of Fame. Rightly so, “that felt good to get back to the World Series and win”. This emotion resonated with all his well-wishers and fans alike.

Jeter’s evolution in style

The 49-year-old, baseball player turned businessman is known to be a man of style on and off the diamond. In his talk with GQ Sports, he never missed a chance to compliment his looks back in the day. Honing his look in a ‘long leather trench coat’ and ‘small oval-shaped sunglasses’ in the early 2000s, he carried the persona of a leader and more.
