The New York Yankees with 27 World Championships exist as the most successful Major League Franchise in North America. Analogous to the great Yankee glory, history, and sentiment, they also house an unbelievably large fanbase, that accommodates what may be radical.
But die-hard fans. And their leader from 2003 to 2014, Derek Jeter only intensified the great Yankees’ emotions. Ten-year-old Ben Brant from Albany, diagnosed with leukemia, reached Yankee Stadium with his chaperone, Tony Romo, to watch the Yankee stars in action. The pair stood outside the cage and witnessed Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Johnny Damon smash the ball and consistently lose the batting cage, as reported by People, in a piece from 2009.

As the Yankees’ training session in the middle of their 2009 World Championship winning season continued, the rain gods decided to bewail Yankee Stadium. Consequently, Jeter and co. rushed to the dugout, where they met Ben Brant from Starlight Children’s Foundation. A non-profit organization that assists young individuals with chronic and life-threatening conditions and serious injuries in realizing their aspirations.
On meeting Brant, New York Yankees captain and to-be five-time World Champion shortstop Derek Jeter gifted the boy with his bat. Correspondingly, Tony Romo spoke about the encounter in awe. And said, “We’re out here today trying to make him smile. It’s a lot of fun.”
