In 2011, Derek Jeter was one of the people who made Barbara Walters’ list of fascinating people. Jeter joined the likes of Katy Perry, The Kardashians, Simon Cowell, Donald Trump, and Herman Cain, among others. On an episode of Good Morning America, Walters shared a few of the names on the list and even talked a little about the selection process.

When asked about the selection process, Walters said, “Our producer and I say, okay who are the people who really made a mark, who really made a difference? And we try to have them in different categories.” 

It’s safe to say that it makes sense that Jeter is on the list. Not only did he make a difference in the sport, but he has also inspired generations of people. Jeter was an icon loved by people all over the world and is possibly the most loved player in baseball history.
