From LeBron James to Alex Rodriguez, Michael Phelps, and Tom Brady, HBO’s Entourage was home to a long list of celebrities and athletes’ cameos. What appeared like a television equivalent of an All-Star game housed a long list of fans. Analogous to that, even former New York Yankees’ captain Derek Jeter loved the show.

Unlike his teammates in Alex Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira, while Derek Jeter never made an appearance on the show, he once displayed his fandomhood by creating an alias at a hotel with reference to the show.
Captain Clutch often used an Entourage alias at hotels
Back in 2020, in an episode of the “Victory The Podcast,” Kevin Dillon, who played Johnny “Drama” Chase revealed that the five-time World Champion used his name as an alias in hotels. This news came as a shocker to the show’s creator, Doug Ellin, who sat alongside actor Kevin Conolly.
Connolly, shocked by such a strange revelation, instantly picked up his phone to call his friend Derek Jeter.
Kevin Dillon spoke about Jeter using the alias, and said, “Derek Jeter… I believe his codename was Johnny Chase. Like when he stayed in a hotel, he went under the name Johnny Chase.”
During the podcast, to confirm the absurdly humorous Jeter move, Conolly texted the Hall of Famer. Shortly after, Jeter replied, saying, “It is very true — with all exclamation points, — ‘Hahaha.'”
Everyone loved Derek Jeter
Eight years after Captain Clutch retired from baseball, his 20-year-long Yankees career is recalled even today. Five World Championships or his various individual accolades did not define Jeter’s Yankees career. He stood as a badge of loyalty and fierce competitiveness, with an undefeatable attitude.
In consonance with that, Jeter resonated with the emotion and arrogance of every New Yorker who watched him play. Eights years down the line, when the Yanks were victim to another postseason disappointment, Jeter’s postseason clutching came back to light.

Back in 2016, when the Yankees’ skipper Brian Cashman remembered their ex-captain, he spoke about retiring the tag of captaincy with Jeter’s jersey. While talking about that, he said, “Derek wore it so well for so long. I wouldn’t give up another captain’s title to anyone else.”
