While the Boston Red Sox proudly continue to occupy their long-standing and historic position as the iconic New York Yankees’ rivals, the New York Mets shall invariably persist as the poorer and inferior hailing from the boroughs of Queens. That being said, the dynamic of which team is richer may have changed after billionaire Steve Cohen took over the Mets, but for the staple New Yorker captain, Derek Jeter, the Mets will always hold a certain, inferior position.
In an interview with GQ Sports alongside correspondent Brett Martin, Derek Jeter, in an uncharacteristic move, subtly shied away from diplomacy and ended up taking a massive dig on the New York Mets, and their potential chances of winning the World Series in 2023.

Derek Jeter doesn’t hold back when it comes to taking a jibe at the New York Mets
The correspondent asked Jeter to predict the winner of the upcoming World Series in 2023 and made him pick between either the New York Mets or his home, the Pinstripes. Trying to stick to his persona, Jeter tried the diplomatic route at the start by saying, “Oh, who wins the World Series? I don’t know, come on.”

However, after the crowd chimed their opinion in, and screamed “Yankees,” Captain Clutch’s Bronx Bombers loyalty couldn’t hold back. And he said, “There you go, she just answered it, yes. They just answered. It’s tough to win, man, it really is, it’s tough to win.”

Following that, Jeter continued to speak about the difficulty of winning, and said, “So winning’s hard, man. So, the good thing about both of the organizations in New York, they want to win. They put a competitive team on the field every year but to actually win at all, it’s difficult. We made it look easy for years, but it’s hard, you know?”
