However, Jeter saw the statue as a misplacement and so decided to put the statue outside Marlins Park. Therefore, he replaced the statue in 2018 with permission from Miami-Dade County. Nonetheless, the sculpture is still actively operating in its new location. Keeping count of home runs from the local team and Marlins’ victories, the sculpture still lits up.?

Jeter recently graced the Pardon My Take podcast on the Barstool Sports network. The hosts asked the former Marlins CEO about the reason behind the replacement of the iconic ‘Homer’ statue. Jeter replied,?saying, “It’s still outside of the park. So you can go see it. Actually, moved it because we needed the space.”?

Jeter further explained, “I think you talk about sports nowadays, you know, fans don’t want to sit in their seats and talk to the person in their left or their right. They wanna move around and have more social spaces. So it was removed then because we needed the space in center field. We didn’t tear it down, we removed it. “?

Jeter didn’t taste the same success as the Marlins administration that he once did as a Yankees player. Therefore, he abruptly put an end to his administrative role and resigned in 2022. He has now settled into a normal living happily with his family.?
