With the New York Yankees out of the postseason, all focus has shifted toward Aaron Judge. Notably, the Pinstripes slugger is about to become a free agent after the ongoing postseason. While there is still no clarification from Judge’s side whether he wants to stay in the Bronx, Derek Jeter weighed his opinion on the same.

Even though Aaron Judge is not the official captain of the team, every Yankees player already considers him their leader. He is probably the only one who has come close to the legacy of the former Yankees captain Derek Jeter. And that is the main reason the Yankees would not want to let go of a generational player to a rival clubhouse.

Apart from being an excellent hitter, Aaron Judge knows how to lead a team. Something that only Derek Jeter offered once to the Pinstripes clubhouse. And given his unique traits, all heavyweights will go after Judge’s signature in his free agency.

Recently, while talking to the media, Jeter backed Judge for his upcoming free agency. The former Yankee said that free agency is something that every athlete looks forwards to.

“I mean, I have gotten to know him a little bit more over the year, I should say maybe, but I don’t know. I mean, as an athlete, this is what you look forward to… Getting an opportunity to be a free agent,” Derek Jeter said.

“Most athletes don’t even reach free agency and then when you actually reach it, you make choices. You make what choice that you think is best for you and your family. But I’m sure, it is probably gonna be a difficult one…”

Will the Yankees be able to keep Judge by their side?

Given there will be interest from the New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and a few more clubhouses, it will be difficult for the Yankees to extend Judge’s stay in the Bronx. Although Judge has admitted his love for the Yankees multiple times, the potential AL MVP will always prefer the best offer.

Earlier this year, the Yankees did offer a contract to Judge, but the 30-year-old slugger rejected the offer and chose to be a free agent.
