Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter have had a topsy-turvy relationship over the years. But did you know that they didn’t first meet at the grand stage of MLB but on the humble grounds of the college? They became good friends then and launched into the MLB space soon after. Their friendship grew so strong over the years that Jeter’s former teammates used to tease him, saying, “Are you going to your boyfriend’s house?” But things took a sour turn because of A-Rod’s unsolicited comments.
One comment from Rodriguez was, “Never have to lead,” wherein he was talking about Jeter and his baseball career. But that was then, and things have surely changed for the better after they are both now retired. We have especially seen them make active steps to mend things. We saw them together at the Old Timers event, and now they are also a part of the FOX Sports crew. And the fun and banter that happens during the telecast, just speaks volumes now of their friendships on the mend. Recently, Jeter was caught laughing at one of the old A-Rod commercials, it was EPIC!

The advertisement was aired, and it featured a young Alex Rodriguez applying the Speed Stick deodorant. It showed how A-Rod was performing at his best, thanks to the sweat and odor protection provided by the product. And even a doctor was present! This left the entire Fox crew in stitches. David Ortiz couldn’t stop laughing and asked, “Is this a real doctor?“ talking about the actor playing a doctor in the ad.

Meanwhile, Derek Jeter was controlling himself but ended up sarcastically saying, “Where did it air?” Well, in Rod’s defense, he handled the situation with humor, saying, “I was young and dumb. I did anything for money. They paid me 30 grand for that; I’m good.” And A-Rod laughed the loudest about the funny throwback.

The fun and banter between Jeter and Alex Rodriguez is shining through this season. There was a time during the Old Timers event when Jeter also pulled Rodriguez’s leg, saying he didn’t miss the Yankees because he always wore the jersey at home. Safe to say while past events sure did scratch their relationship, it didn’t end their friendship. Meanwhile, A-Rod sure will be pestered by this commercial by his friends more now!
David Ortiz trolls Jeter and A-Rod with a throwback video
As the ALCS continues, so does the fun among the FOX analysts, Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, and David Ortiz. So after Game 4 of the NCLS between the Mets and Dodgers, the crew took time to watch the highlights of the 2004 ALCS. As soon as the clips showed Boston win the game 4 over the Yankees, David Ortiz couldn’t help but say, “The Yankees lose,” his now famous line. But the timing was a bit-ouch!

It was apt because it was the 20th anniversary of Boston’s historic comeback in the 2004 ALCS. The timing was also a pinch to Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter because the Yankees had just lost Game 3 of this year to the Cleveland Guardians. So Ortiz’s statement added some more salt to the wound for the former New York players.
