The bold decision comes in the form of firing the long-time General Manager and President of Baseball Operations, Dayton Moore. Markedly, the Royals came to 2022 with multiple expectations after driving many promotions from the smaller leagues. Unfortunately, they were significantly outplayed throughout the season.
How did fans react to Dayton Moore getting fired?
Baseball columnist Jeff Passan reported the firing of Dayton Moore. As noted, Dayton Moore stood as the General Manager of the Kansas City Royals from 2006 to 2021. He carried them to two World Series and constructed the 2015 World Championship victory. However, seven years down the line, the Royals haven’t repaid him well.

Passan reported, “The Kansas City Royals fired president of baseball operations Dayton Moore, their longtime top baseball executive and the architect of their 2015 World Series championship.”
Surprisingly, fans were angrier about the past seven years and believed that the World Champion’s time was up. This is how they reacted:
Should have been done like 6 years ago

Happy Day 1 of the post Dayton Moore Era to all my frustrated KC Royals followers…Moore is a good man no doubt, but KC desperately needed to go in another direction…Sounds like another organization I am quasi familiar with…Wonder if Edward Oliveras popped some bubbly too…

I still can't get over Dayton Moore being fired! #Royals

It would be extremely disappointing to end up with Dayton Moore as POBO for the Mets.

The bar is so fucking low. This is to say nothing of Dayton Moore, but the idea that simply making “deals to win” will enshrine you as an honorable baseball person among legacy media. pic.twitter.com/fDasgdodj1

The Guardians are six games up in the Central with two weeks to go and finally called up Will Brennan, and the Royals finally let go of Dayton Moore. What a night

Glad to see Dayton Moore go but I would have liked to see JJ picollo go as well.Picollo represents the losing culture and a whole new front office is needed.

John Sherman was very patient with Dayton Moore all year. Moore had provided reasons to fire him multiple throughout the season. His obstinance in his response to the Athletic was just a repetition of his denial all year.

As an illustration, multiple thoughts surround Twitter. However, the overarching emotion is a relief. But, is this decision going to work out in the bigger picture?
Kansan City Royals in 2022
The Blue Crew haven’t made the postseason since 2015. 2015 is also the last time the Royals won the World Championship Ring. Ironically, that was under Dayton Moore. However, his success story with the Royals concluded with the 2015 championship. Now, seven years since then, the Royals are significantly struggling.
As the MLB approaches the final two weeks of the regular season, the Kansas City Royals have already earned themselves the ‘E’ label. Throughout the season, they lost 89 games, won only 60 games, and are currently at number four in the American League Central Division at 0.403.
