Baseball has seen some truly impressive feats over the decades. These include massive pitching performances, legendary hits, and iconic defensive plays. History books keep a record of these big moments and remember them forever. Most recently, a legendary pitcher looked back on an iconic performance he gave while playing for the New York Yankees. 

There have been many legends that achieved notable feats with the Yankees over the years. But this pitcher achieved something that less than 25 people have been able to do in MLB history. Recently, he looked back at this moment while holding a piece of equipment from that day.

Former New York Yankees pitcher David Wells looks back at his perfect game

Throwing a perfect game is an incredible feat, that requires the utmost concentration from the pitcher and his fielding teammates. To record a perfect game, the opposing team should not get on base through any means over 9 innings or more if the game goes into extra innings. On May 17th, 1998, Yankees pitcher David Wells recorded a perfect game. Wells threw 120 pitches and got 11 strikeouts en route to winning the game 4-0 over the Minnesota Twins. Most recently, the legendary pitcher reminisced about the moment in a Tweet while sharing a picture of him holding the glove from that game. 

In a Tweet, Wells said, “Putting on the perfect game glove 25years later. The Yankees will be displaying it in their Museum for awhile and im happy to do so.” While remembering the moment, he also announced that the glove from that game will go into the Yankees’ museum.

Wells’ perfect game was the 15th in MLB history and helped immortalize him in baseball history. Yankees fans will be excited to see this piece of baseball history. The team has recently been winning games, and even received a massive positive update. But getting back to Wells, he has told some interesting stories about his perfect game.

David Wells claims that he was hungover during his perfect game

In multiple interviews and television shows, David Wells has claimed that he was hungover during his perfect game. In fact, he claimed that he had partied with Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers the night before the game. Wells said that he, Meyers, and Fallon had partied at a Saturday Night Live After-Party and got wasted.
