Alex Rodriguez has gone through the extremes of his life. While he has received the utmost appreciation for his achievements, he has received brutal criticism for his PED scandal. Even after years, the scenario has not really changed. The legend often invites criticism for his statements. The situation has come to the point where even his old statements brought him hate years later. Recently, the 2014 scandal resurfaced as Rodriguez’s statements were revealed. A few new details from that investigation have taken the hate for A-Rod to the next level.

In 2014, when the PED issue started, A-Rod was not the only one who got caught. However, the latest ESPN discovery revealed some statements by the 14-time All-Star player where he ratted out other players when he was exposed, making the Yankees icon a target of criticism. Even his fellow players didn’t let him pass without slamming him for his deeds.

While cheater and liar used to be the two most common words associated with A-Rod after the 2014 scandal, now another word has been added to the list: snitch. Recently, a few months ago, ESPN’s bombshell documents revealed some unknown facts regarding the PED scandal. They claimed that the Yankees star gave away the names of some contemporary players who also use performance-enhancing drugs.

This list includes the names of Manny Ramirez, Ryan Braun, and another all-star player. The third name was kept a secret. While the investigation was going on, A-Rod was granted the privilege to share any secrets regarding the drug issue. Taking advantage, the former Yankees’ star betrayed his fellows, who were also the clients (as per A-Rod) of Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch.

Weeks later, when this thing came to light, Yankees veteran David Wells, during an interview with Foul Territory, brutally slammed the Yankees legend, calling him a “rat.”

According to him, people hate snitches, as these deeds will come back to “bite you in the ass tenfold.” The former pitcher further explained, “Nobody likes a rat.” Continuing his point, Wells again slams A-Rod, saying, “You know, you always lie your way out of everything until you get caught, and you gotta come clean. But you know, you don’t come out and start ratting guys out right out of the get-go.”

However, Wells was a Yankees member for a short time and a renowned pitcher of his time. So, after the catastrophic season ending for the Yankees, he suggested some fixes that, according to him, would improve the team’s performance.

The Yankees’ crooked performance in 2023 had attracted almost everyone’s attention. While Aaron Judge is trying his methods, Wells shared that the Yankees have lots of underperforming but highly paid players. According to him, the solution is straightforward.

Cashman should send all of them to the minor leagues. He clarified the solution, saying, “I don’t care who it was, if he was in the stink hole—pardon my French, if you can say that now. I don’t know. But send that son of a gun to Triple-A or Double-A and send him a wake-up call.” However, he didn’t find Cashman at fault, despite all the underperformed, highly paid players being Cashman’s hirings.
