As of yesterday, September 24th, 2022, Pujols’ ultimate season surge dragged him to a successfully completed 700-homer chase. Albert Pujols is now part of the elite club with Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Barry Bonds.

Markedly, in the 2022 off-season, Pujols announced that he will be moving to the Cardinals to play his final MLB season prior to his retirement. Before the year began, Pujols was at 679 career homers and with his recent decline in performance, 700 career home runs felt like an unimaginable dream to achieve. However, the 42-year-old was preparing for a historical season apparently.

How did the Dodgers skipper react to Albert Pujols hitting his 700th homer?

Last evening, the Dodgers took on the Cardinals at Dodger Stadium. The manner in which the Cardinals stunned the MLB toppers surprised and shook everyone. The Cardinals completely dominated the MLB table leaders in a discomfiting 11-0 victory. However, the highlight of the game wasn’t the dominating victory, but it was Albert Pujols’ 700th MLB homer. And the excitement was such that even the opposition skipper couldn’t keep calm.

Dave Roberts stood up in excitement to cheer the 42-year-old. However, the reality of the Dodgers witnessing a humiliating defeat eventually kicked in, and similarly, his emotions came to a halt.

Pujols played with the LA Dodgers for a brief one-year period from 2021 to 2022. That one-year period probably helped in triggering Roberts’ reaction.

Dave Roberts made his MLB debut as a player in 1999 with Cleveland Indians(then). Today, his biggest achievement as a player is the 2004 World Series, where he played with the Boston Red Sox and came out victorious. By 2008, the outfielder announced his retirement as a player and reached the MLB circuit again as a manager in 2015.

As the Dodgers’ splendid performance continued, his esteem as a skipper grew. Then, in 2020, he won a World Championship with them and even today, given the season they’ve been having, a World Series place shouldn’t feel too far away.
