The Los Angeles Dodgers are doing a great job and manager Dave Roberts is rightfully singing praises. While he does that, the names of two key players come up, who are catapulting the team forward. And no, Shohei Ohtani’s name is not one of them. In fact, they are, pitcher Tyler Glasnow and first baseman Freddie Freeman.
Glasnow’s recent dominance on the mound has been a superb revelation for the Blue Crew. In his latest outing, he delivered a performance that left Roberts impressed. In a post-game interview, he spoke at length about Glasnow’s “solid performance” and Freeman’s game that came to life.

Roberts said, “Today was a great one [from Glasnow],” emphasizing the ace’s impact. He went on about Glasnow’s understanding of the situation, and added, “Starting pitchers that have been around understand what’s at stake, and today we were in the thick of it.” The 30-year-old ace’s pitching repertoire was particularly effective.

Manager Roberts shed some light on “[The] fastball played, but the curveball was so good tonight.” With that, he highlighted how Glasnow kept the opposing batters perplexed. The stat sheet reflected this dominance. The opposing team, didn’t square too many balls up. Underscoring how Glasnow’s efficiency was undeniable with “10 strikeouts versus no walks”, he established that this was a dominant outing.
There have in fact been a string of strong starts. That said, Roberts is evidently looking forward to seeing more of the same. His words were, “I’m looking forward to enjoying this one and getting on the road.” The praises quickly shifted to Freddie Freeman who also seemed to have broken out of a slump.

Roberts shared, “Freddie has obviously come to life the last couple nights,” attributing the resurgence to him finally finding his hitting rhythm. He added, “This homestand has been fantastic,” as he underscored Freeman’s recent hot streak. So what’s the takeaway here? “[He’s] getting guys on base and executing,” which is exactly what the Dodgers need from their veteran first baseman. Freeman’s recent show of talent has added another gem of a performance to the Dodgers’ already potent offense. And no, it’s not all Ohtani.
While Shohei Ohtani, the two-way phenom who recently broke Hideki Matsui’s record has been great, this performance was about Glasnow and Freeman who emerged as dominant forces on the mound and hot plate. Despite a recent slump, the Dodgers seem to be on the rise. Their recent success suggests they are a well-oiled machine alerting their opponents.
