Alex Rodriguez‘s love life has been a whirlwind of headlines in recent years. His marriage with his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis bore them two children. He was paying a staggering amount of $115,000 every month as child support to his ex-wife while being engaged to his then-fiancee Jennifer Lopez at the time.

Although the two had a good thing going at the time, Lopez, however, was not happy with this situation. She expressed concern over the large monthly payments of $115,000 that A-Rod was giving to his ex-wife. She reportedly told Rodriguez that he needed to get his financial affairs in order; especially before they could move forward with their wedding.

What was Jennifer Lopez’s reasoning for her demand?

Lopez expressed concern about the large amount of money her fiance, Alex Rodriguez was paying in child support to his ex-wife, Cynthia. She felt that Cynthia’s monetary demands were taking advantage of Rodriguez. If they were to pay such a large sum every month, it would also mean that Lopez would be giving her own hard-earned money to Cynthia, once they were married. 

According to intouchweekly.com, this is how she said it, “She’s not sure what he’s going to do, but she knows her hard-earned money won’t be going to Cynthia!”

JLo did not object to Rodriguez paying child support but noted that he was not making as much money as he did when he was playing in the major leagues. Lopez did not want to deal with that issue once they were married. She decided to put their wedding on hold until the matter was resolved.

In the end, it seems like the marriage didn’t go through because of several other reasons. The two went their separate ways in 2021 after being together since 2017 when they began to officially date. 

Despite the split, Rodriguez remains on good terms with his exes, including Cynthia, and continues to prioritize his role as a father to all of his children. Despite his tumultuous end with Lopez; he still cares deeply for the children he considered his own during the time they were together.
