Undoubtedly, his splendid performances this season have also contributed to the Yankees’ rank at the top of the AL East Division. However, as of early 2022, the Yanks and Judge failed to meet at a common consensus during a contract negotiation. The Yanks offered Judge $213.5 million for a seven-year extension. Markedly, after the extension talks went down, Judge signed a one-year contract for $19 million.
What did Rich Eisen say about Aaron Judge?
Popular journalist and the Yankee fan, Rich Eisen, on his show talks to Chris Brockman about Aaron Judge‘s contract extension. They compare Judge’s potential extension to Julio ‘J-Rod’ Rodriguez’s latest negotiation with the Seattle Mariners. They negotiated a 14-year contract extension worth $400 million.
Eisen believes that J-Rod’s negotiation will directly impact Judge’s demands and price, which will only increase after the recent signing. While responding to Brockman’s claim where he said that the Yanks will have to overpay Judge, Eisen said, “Of course they do (have to overpay him) and they have the money. CUT THE CRAP! George Steinbrenner, the third underneath the ground, is screaming at his son saying just cut the crap.” Eisen, who is a big Yankee fan, is in complete support of retaining Judge who has proved his talent this season and could be a potential superstar for the Yanks in the coming years.

That being said, the biggest concern with Judge’s contract extension is his age. He is 30 years old and isn’t directly subject to any contract over 8 years at the most. Moreover, concerns regarding replicating a performance like this season will always remain.
