Spring training is around the corner, but will the Cubs be able to land Alex Bregman? Well, the Cubs’ pitcher Justin Steele’s post may be the answer. The Bregman saga has been going on for months, and it’s still not clear whether he will land with the Cubs, Astros, or Red Sox. While the Astros are ahead in the contention by offering Bregman his staple 3B position, the Cubs made the late entry and offered a contract with the highest AAV. The Cubs reportedly offered a four-year deal worth $100 million. 

Alex Bregman seems to be expecting something north of $200 million and more than six years, which no contending teams have offered yet. The highest offer with him was $156 million by the Astros, which he rejected. So is there any chance with the Cubs? “It’s unclear if we will be doing more right now,” said the Cubs President of Baseball Operations, Jed Hoyer. This indicates that the Cubs have no concrete confirmation about getting Bregman. Well, the Cubs got something to guess about Bregman!

The Cubs’ 2023 All-Star pitcher Justin Steele shared a cryptic post over X that left the fans guessing. “I smell something in the air,” said Steele without sharing any further details. It may be anything else, but chances are high that he is indicating towards and landing Alex Bregman. Well, the Cubs’ offer of $100 seems more feasible for Bregman considering it comes with opt-outs. The fans have already started guessing about Steel’s post, and the majority of their wild guess is pointing toward Alex Bregman!

Well, the Cubs have no rumors regarding their new signings except for Bregman, and smelling something new can likely be Bregman. From the Cubs POV, the addition of Bregman would make their team worthy of postseason runs, which the Cubs are currently missing. The 2x World Series winner is the perfect to lead the group this year.

When Alex Bregman is the topic of the moment, then any rumors will be connected with him, and here goes the same. An enthusiast commented that the smell is of Bregman. Well, that may be true, but Bregman is unlikely to sign today. It shows the desperation of the fans to get Bregman to the team. Why not if Bregman agrees with the four-year deal of the Cubs?
