As the MLB approaches a competitive postseason, the highlight from most of the games is the creepy smiling face that appears in the crowd. In regards to the MLB postseason, most of the berths are certain and most division pennants are sealed (barring the wild card entries). However, the National League’s East Division is yet to be sealed as the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves stand together at 0.626.

However, recently, putting aside the MLB games, random individuals wearing creepy smiles on their faces have been attending the game recently. And while the reason behind these creepy is known now, their appearances have started to get irritating with time, according to fans.

The creepy smiles are back and this time they haunt the Mets and Marlins game

The random people who managed to freak out the MLB fans during multiple games were planted to supplement a movie-marketing campaign. The movie, “Smile,” is a horror-psychological thriller that releases on September 30th. As a medium to promote the movie, planted individuals stood behind the batter’s box with a smile on their faces.

During the Mets vs Marlins game, after the lady in the fluorescent green t-shirt appeared for the first time, New York Mets mascot, Mr. Met, stole her seat and replaced her.

Markedly, the Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets 4-6 and added to the Mets’ Pennant competition with Atlanta Braves.

Can we witness a New York Mets vs Yankees World Series?

Both the New York City teams, the Mets and the Pinstripes, currently rank their respective East Divisions in the National and American League. While both have officially qualified for the postseason, only the Yanks have clinched the division. As the Braves close in on the Mets, the NL East Pennant battle intensifies.

However, the big question is whether we can witness a potential New York-based World Series. While the Mets have looked like the more stable NY City team this year, the Yanks quickly shook their August slumber and are back on track.

Can we witness an encore from the 2000 World Series? However, to reach the World Series, the Yanks will have to break their 13-year absence and the Mets, their 6-year absence.
