The Washington Nationals’ star Juan Soto has become a hot topic in Major League Baseball. And the reason is quite awkward. Notably, the Nationals’ slugger has been one of the finest young talents in MLB. And given his skills, the National League side is desperate to keep him for a long time.
However, Soto and his agent Scott Boras, are not very keen to sign a long-term contract with the Nationals. If reports are true, then lately, Washington Nationals had offered a $440 million worth contract to Soto. But the Soto and his agent Scott Boras declined the illustrious offer.

The Nationals did not like this attitude of their star player. And during the All-Star break, when Soto had to take part in the Home Run Derby, the Nationals did not provide a charter plane for their marquee player. Now, Soto’s agent Boras has reacted to the incident and expressed his sympathy for Juan Soto.
Juan Soto flew on his own to take part in the Home Run Derby
Per a report in the New York Post, Scott Boras was all praise for Juan Soto. The superagent defended his player over the contract saga with the Nationals. Notably, this is not the first time Soto has denied an extension with the Nationals. Earlier during the 2022 free agency, Soto had already rejected a 13-year extension offer worth $350 million with the Nationals.
“When he goes to the ballpark, everyone normally would talk about the brilliance of his performance or ask about what his routines are so they could understand him as a player,” Boras said. “Well, this creates a different focus that no player wants.”
And now, he has rejected a 15-year extension worth a whopping $440 million. When the Nationals did not provide a charter to Soto, he flew commercial to Los Angeles and also won the Home Run Derby.

“He had to stay up all night. The Atlanta Braves, they’re playing the same game. They have a charter. They got here five hours earlier. And yet he’s up all night. I said, no exception, this guy is going to just be himself. Sure enough, he performed at the greatest of levels because he’s Juan Soto,” Boras added.
What is Soto’s motto?
Considering he is still a 23-year-old guy, Soto has a bright future ahead. And not only the Nationals, but any team would also want to keep him by their side. But the Dominican Republican star is not ready to cage his career by signing a multi-year contract.
