Craig Counsell has set a new record this offseason. The veteran Milwaukee Brewers? manager has signed a massive deal with the Chicago Cubs at five years and $40 million. The formal introduction has been taken care of today and the press conference has given Cubs fans much to look forward to. 2023 was not the best but the club clearly believes in their new skipper. While the team?s current stats are not very impressive, the new manager has improvement plans. ?This is right, man, this is the right thing going on here, and this is something that is very special. Stating further his views on his new team, Craig Counsell told the media, ?From a baseball standpoint, you know, I saw quickly that the organization is just in great health, and that presented a very compelling vision of that. It’s time to be a cub.? However, he didn?t open up about the exact ideas or what he has been planning for this offseason. What he did talk about was a ?really exciting future ahead of us.?
The Chicago-based team has not been linked to any player or speculated to chase any potent free agent so far this winter. Still, the 56 skipper of the team is hopeful about his duty to take the club to the next level. As he prepares for the love that Chicago will likely shower on him, Counsell did not expect this level of his former city’s fury.

Counsell managed the Milwaukee Brewers for nine years after already playing in the team colors in his active days. Understandably, he wanted a change. Cream City may have understood it had it not been the Cubs that he chose. From online rage to defaced posters, Craig Counsell was not prepared for this.
“That was my miscalculation,” he told ESPN. “As time moves forward, I am very proud of what happened in Milwaukee. I think time will look favorably on what was accomplished during those nine years I was the manager there.”

It will take time for the wounds to heal but in the meanwhile, Counsell will be working on rebuilding the Chicago Cubs.
