Arizona Diamondbacks are getting ready to tackle the upcoming season head-on. One of the most recent teams in Major League Baseball, the D-Backs, has grown exponentially ever since its establishment in 1995. Now, they are keeping up with their reputation by building up a strong core team. One that is expected to lead them for a long time in the future, and as of March 11th, that includes Corbin Carroll.
Ranking number 2 on MLB Pipeline’s list of prospects, Carroll has stirred up a storm ever since the D-Backs signed him in 2019. One of the fastest players in the league, the Seattle native has not let a shoulder injury slow him down. After playing in a pandemic-shortened season in 2020 and missing out on a major part of the 2021 season due to surgery, Carroll made a fierce comeback in 2022. And the D-backs clearly recognize that he’s the one to keep.

The D-backs’ official Twitter announced the good news last night with the caption, “It’s official! @corbin_carroll is here for a good time and a long time. ✍️”. To which the 22-year-old replied, “Incredibly honored to call the valley my home for the foreseeable future. We are building something special. 🐍🐍🐍”
These numbers make Carroll’s deal the largest contract ever signed by a player with no experience in a non-U.S. league, and fewer than 100 days of service time. Fans are already excited about this development and are placing their hopes on the outfielder for the future of the D-Backs.

Some baseball fans are understandably concerned about his lack of experience and think the team should have given him more time.

And yet, most D-Backs fans can’t help but cheer for the young star who has done nothing but brought his A-game each day.
Kids a damn stud. He will be well worth it.

Carroll is only one of the young stars the Diamondbacks are betting on for the future.

The D-Backs are building a strong foundation with much-touted position players
In addition to Carroll, outfielder Alek Thomas has also been a greatly talked-about prospect. The D-Backs drafted him in the second round of the 2018 MLB draft, and Thomas made his major league debut in 2022. Another highly regarded prospect, catcher Gabriel Moreno, also got traded to the Arizona team from the Toronto Blue Jays last December.

The lineup is looking strong so far, and the team has two more candidates to take a spot on the team in the near future. The 20-year-old shortstop Jordan Lawlar and the 19-year-old outfielder Druw Jones are waiting on the sidelines for now, but if they keep up the performance, the next few years could see them stepping into the major league.
