Tough break for Giancarlo Stanton and Yankees fans. The injury woes continue for Giancarlo Stanton, and this time, it’s getting even more serious. The Yankees’ slugger has been battling elbow issues since the 2024 season, and things have only gone downhill. Now, after already undergoing two platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections, Stanton confirmed on Saturday that he’s heading for a third round of treatment—an alarming sign that his tendon injuries in both elbows have worsened.

For a power hitter like Stanton, elbow problems can be a nightmare. With Opening Day approaching, the big question is: How long will the Yankees have to wait before their star is back at full strength?

While he attributed the injury to his batting adjustments on the field, which he has been doing since last season, the Yankees’ designated hitter made an honest revelation that left fans in shock. Stanton feels unsure of resuming baseball activities, and even if he goes under the knife, the surgery on his elbows may rule him out of the entire 2025 season.

The New York Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton had a good 2024 season, where he played 114 regular-season games and posted a .233/.298/.475 slash line, along with 72 RBIs and 27 home runs. He even managed to hit seven home runs and managed 16 RBVIs in the 14 playoff games he played. However, considering the severity of the injury, Yankees’ insider Bryan Hoch shared a post on his Instagram handle, stating that Stanton might be unable to carry out baseball activities of any kind. In case any surgery is needed, that might be his season-ending. This surely triggered some brutal reactions from the fans, as one of them said, “I love big G but may want to consider retiring.”

No New York Yankees fan will expect something to happen; however, the 35-year-old outfielder has already received two rounds of PRP injections, and he will soon opt for the third round. Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone also feels the same about him not being part of any action during the spring training. Although, just in the previous week, the Yankees announced him opening the season on the IL; now that looks quite far-fetched. Stanton has been a superstar who contributed a lot to New York’s pennant-winning squad in 2024.

With the fans already on the verge of heartbreak, let’s have a look at what they have to say.

What’s your perspective on:

Fans share their reactions on Stanton’s honest admission of his ‘severe’ injury

With Giancarlo Stanton battling a serious injury, which made him on the verge of calling it quits, a lot of Yankees’ fans cannot keep calm anymore; it’s one they are familiar with. “I love big G but may want to consider retiring,” one fan wrote on the Yankees’ post on Instagram, referring to how Stanton’s injury can cut short his career, and he may soon opt for the decision to retire. Given that Stanton is yet to acquire a third-round injection, if that doesn’t resolve the problem, then he might opt for surgery, too.

Another fan chimed in, stating, “I love G and don’t want to throw shade, but why wasn’t this looked at in the offseason? Why does everyone wait until March?” So, the Yankees could have looked into this matter much earlier so that they could have a backup plan ready. It’s clear that the fan loves Giancarlo Stanton, but as a Yankees fan, what matters the most is the team; so, according to him, the injury concerns should have been discussed before the spring training.

Career ending perhaps,” a user quoted on the post, considering that the series of injuries that has rattled Stanton since 2024 might just end his career. Stanton had not swung his bat since mid-January due to the constant pain, and it bothered him during the entire 2024 season, for example, during the American League Championship Series, where he achieved the MVP honors.

Another user was quoted saying, “JD Martinez is incoming,” citing the chances of the Yankees signing the New York Mets’ outfielder J.D. Martinez. Although the spotlight is shifted to Martinez as the next potential home run king, with Stanton grappling with elbow injuries, the Yankees seem less interested. The reason? The club is hesitant to sign him for a multi-million dollar offer, as the expectations they have from Stanton aren’t the same for Martinez.

However, one commenter has prayed for Stanton’s recovery, stating, “❤❤❤ Sending healing and prayers to my favorite baseball player.” The fan expects all good to happen, praying to God to heal Stanton so that he can make a comeback to the mound. And we all expect the same, as we do not want someone to just retire, do we?
