Cody Bellinger has been linked to a number of teams over the course of the last few weeks. His free agency has been the topic of much debate as he seeks a long-term contract. The Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Toronto Blue Jays seem to be in the race. But Bellinger recently revealed a secret off-season desire involving the New York Yankees. 

Despite weeks of feeling the waters, Scott Boras does not seem to have started any serious negotiations around Cody Bellinger. But the star outfielder has shined some light on his desire despite his ongoing free agency. 

Cody Bellinger wants to join the New York Yankees 

Amidst a crucial off-season, Cody Bellinger was once connected to the New York Yankees. But unfortunately, the Bronx Bombers traded for Juan Soto, deciding on another direction. Although Bellinger didn’t reveal his thoughts on links with the Yankees then, he has now seemingly revealed his true thoughts. According to a tweet by Fireside Yankees, Bellinger was extremely keen on joining the Bronx-based team. 

In the video, Fireside Yankees explains that when a fan interacted with Bellinger, he said that the team hadn’t contacted him but he wished they had. This is a massive revelation because the star outfielder has not openly spoken about his desired free-agency destination. 

Unfortunately, the Bombers have now acquired Juan Soto and Alex Verdugo via trade, filling their outfield. It seems that Bellinger’s agent Scott Boras prefers a Cubs reunion now. Only time will tell where the former MVP goes. But playing in the Bronx would have been special for his family. 

Bellinger’s father played for the Yankees

Cody Bellinger has family ties with the Yankees. His father Clay Bellinger played with the team and won 2 World Series titles, in 1999 and 2000. So it was a a chance for him to play on the same team that his father did at one point. Despite this, the 28-year-old Bellinger has the chance to make a special impact with the team he joins this off-season.
