The MLB free agency has answered several questions but a few are still left. It includes which of Scott Boras’s free agents sign his next contract first. Notably, both Cody Bellinger and Blake Snell had a great season. It made them the top free agents, who could bag big contracts. However,  that has not happened but might change with the latest reports, suggesting a breakthrough.

As the next season is just months away, teams are working hard to get the best players on the squad. This makes Bellinger and Snell suitable for the teams looking to add seasoned pros to the squad. With the focus shifting from Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, they might get the opportunity now. However, the delay has dried up the attention around them and it would be interesting to see which player gets the first bite of the big cherry. Will it be Cody Bellinger or Blake Snell?

After weeks of Los Angeles Dodgers taking center stage with $1 billion signings in Ohtani and Yamamoto, all eyes are on Bellinger and Snell. Both are star players in the market but are yet to get a suitable bid, which is not too surprising given their agent is Scott Boras. The veteran agent is famous for delaying deals to get the biggest paycheck possible for his clients. But while the noise around Bellinger is quiet, the San Francisco Giants have found an interest in Snell.

Per insider Bob Nightengale, San Fran is a ‘leading candidate’ for the reigning Cy Young winner. Given that the Giants pursued the Japanese duo, they are willing to spend. With Snell expected to cost $175 million, signing a top arm will be a good deal. Plus, the Angels have a place to fill to continue their push for playoffs and the 31-year-old pitcher looks perfect for this role. But will that be enough for the best pitcher from the NL to get a win over Bellinger?

A market full of pitchers gives a chance to Bellinger to keep his $200 million demand. With the Toronto Blue Jays looking to strengthen their offense and defense, the slugger has room to negotiate. He might also stay in Chicago, which is in wait-and-watch mode.

Nothing solid has come in from that direction, which puts Snell ahead. Given the pitcher finished the season on a great note, having him on the squad is a big plus for teams looking to compensate for Yamamoto’s loss. His experience of two leagues adds to him inking the contract first, but it remains to be seen who chooses him.
