Scott Boras has a hold on the MLB off-season. He is one of baseball’s biggest super agents and represents some of the game’s biggest stars. This time is no different, with a majority of the top stars under his agency. But this has also caused a problem as the off-season slows down.
Boras has not earned his place among elite agents for no reason. The 71-year-old negotiation specialist has helped players sign some of MLB’s biggest contracts with his signature style. But he seems to have taken complete control this off-season as several stars await massive deals.

It should be a little surprise that Scott Boras represents top stars in this free agency class. But he has seemingly taken control of the market while representing the top remaining free agents. Cody Bellinger, Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, and Matt Chapman are the top four players on the market and are all represented by Boras. With his signature style of waiting out the market, the 71-year-old has caused deals to stall.
Bellinger has seen teams pull out of his market, and now a stalemate with the Chicago Cubs is on. Montgomery seems set for a return to the Texas Rangers, with their TV deal being the only obstacle. Blake Snell and Matt Chapman seem to both be waiting for the best offer after the lefty ace rejected the New York Yankees’ $150 million approach.
Observing the off-season and seeing how it moves with Spring Training near will be interesting. Scott Boras must work his magic as he continues playing the waiting game. But the super agent also controls the trade market, with several of his stars on the block.

Boras is active in the trade market as well
Dylan Cease is currently the biggest Scott Boras client on the trade block. Although there were rumors of a potential Corbin Burnes trade, who is also represented by the 71-year-old, those have faded out. Furthermore, Boras was involved in arguably the most significant trade of the off-season, with his client Juan Soto switching teams and joining the Yankees.
