Two nights ago, at Progressive Field, outfielder and rookie Will Brennan accidentally killed a bird wandering around the infield grass with a hard line drive.

The ball, traveling at a speed of 100.1 mph, made contact with the bird. Upon reaching first base, Brennan expressed his surprise and discomfort by placing his hands on his helmet and displaying a pained expression. The umpires immediately halted play and called for a temporary pause, enabling a member of the ground crew to safely remove the deceased bird from the field using a shovel.

Cleveland Guardians in 2023

Since 2016, when the Guardians lost the World Series, they have been a relatively consistent team making the playoffs on four out of six occasions. That being said, the start to 2023 has been mediocre at best, with the Guardians losing 27 and winning 21 at 0.438 and currently at third in AL Central. Moreover, they also haven’t established dominance at home, winning only 10 out of the 23 home games.
