Mishaps are part of games. Players often encounter incidents that are highly dangerous for them and their audience. The same kind of incident occurred during the game between The Cincinnati Reds and The St. Louis Cardinals that made the game memorable. More interestingly, this incident even emulated the former New York Yankees captain’s encounter during his time.

The Reds are already in their race to qualify for the playoffs. Their season was turbulent with wins and losses, but finally, they reached the edge to qualify for the playoffs. While the players are trying to give their best for their team, the ‘self-acclaimed fastest man in the world’ did something exceptional. Though apparently it seems sensational, it was dangerous. Also, it transported fans back in time to the unforgettable year of 2004.

Players echoing each other’s words is a regular thing. Even sometimes, two players have a similar playing style as well. But what is rare is two players repeating the same kind of play. Well, the Busch Stadium witnessed the latter on Friday. During the fourth inning of the game, when both teams have been trying their best to survive, The Reds star Elly De La Cruz ran to catch the ball. While, he was doing so, he fell into the netting to deliberately take a catch.

This incident took the Yankees fans to a few years back when Derek Jeter encountered the same play. That was more intense though. During their game with The Red Sox, Jeter also ran to catch the ball and couldn’t control his speed. The Captain straight crossed the boundaries and fell into the audience chairs. Though De La Cruz is lucky, Jeter was not. He was severely injured, with bruises on his face.

However, this iconic moment of The Reds star didn’t go to waste. The team had another great victory that added a golden record to their history books.
