Barry Bonds is probably the best hitter of the modern baseball era. Known for his brilliant power-hitting, the San Francisco Giants legend achieved multiple accolades and claimed many records. Given that it was not an ordinary achievement, it took a lot of training and practice to achieve this feat. Because of it, Bonds became a master and did not lose his grip even years after his retirement. The same was visible in his success during drills in a cage where everyone failed.
It happened during the 2015-16 season when Bonds was the hitting coach of the Miami Marlins. He outshined young players in training drills. Christian Yelich witnessed this and gave a detailed picture of his experience during a conversation with Mookie Betts.

Christian Yelich Advocated for Hitting Skills of Barry Bonds
Very few players in the modern era have witnessed Barry Bonds hitting the ball. And Christian Yelich is one of them. The $215 million Milwaukee Brewers star was part of the 2015-16 Miami Marlins squad when Bonds was a hitting coach. And because of it, he worked closely with him and could experience his aura.
In one episode of ON BASE WITH MOOKIE BETT, he revealed some insights from his time training with Bonds. While doing so, he also talked about the training drills and shared one such incident that added to the dominance of Barry Bonds on the team.
Yelich said, “Him talking about hitting and watching him hit. It looked so easy. He would like to demonstrate the drill or what he was talking about in the cage, and you’d just be watching and be like, ‘Man this looks so easy.”
He added that even though the drill looked easy, the team failed to replicate the act. And said, “And then you’d go in there and try and do it and you’d just smother the ball.” Well, there can be no doubt about it. Barry Bonds’ career speaks volumes about him.
