Every spectator sport demands the fans’ presence, as everything feels incomplete without them. The same goes for baseball, in which fans play a crucial role in popularizing the game. MLB, one of the oldest leagues of the world, is the prime example, which has benefitted from the fan’s presence in stadiums since its inception. But things have not been similar for a few MLB teams, including the Chicago White Sox.

Despite the positive start of the season, these teams are facing a high percentage of decrease in attendance during home games. Given that league’s popularity has seen multifold increase, this downhill is surprising. Is there something to do with their season? Let us find out.

Chicago White Sox is experiencing a significant downhill in stadium attendance!

Even though the team has done decently well, they have seen less footfall at the stadium during home games. According to soxon35th, though few other MLB teams are experiencing the same, White Sox remains the most affected team. In 34 games till now, 638,475 fans have attended the stadium in the ongoing season. Though they are still averaging a decent 18,779 per game, a decrease of 156,734 has been noted.

It amounts to a decrease of  4,610 per game and 19 percent in terms of percentage. Philadelphia Phillies lead the list of teams that have recorded positive growth. Surprisingly, it also includes Oakland Athletics, which has lacked overall support from the fans. Given that Sox have not played badly, the numbers indicate a lack of trust from the fans. A drop in performances could be the reason behind the falling numbers!

It has been a stop-start season for the White Sox. They have faced problems since the start and have failed to construct a streak of wins. They sit third in the standings with a win-loss record of 30-40 at a win percentage of 0.429. The numbers are decent, but the problem lies with the consistency.

They have failed to win their last two series, including one at home. Losses like these certainly add more to the downfall. Given that they are just 5.5 games behind the table toppers Minnesota Twins, they can turn it over. But to make it happen, they have to bring their best in the upcoming games. Will they be able to do it? Only time will tell!
