Over a twenty-year-long career in the MLB, Derek Jeter had numerous teammates. Some of those teammates have gone on to become long-time close friends of Jeter. Once Jeter attended the podcast of one such former teammate. They talked openly on many topics, including the respective teams they both support.?

Jeter played only for the New York Yankees throughout his entire MLB career and became an iconic legend. He made his debut in 1995, building up a grand legacy until his eventual retirement in 2014. In a magnificent career, Jeter made 14 All-Star appearances and won five World Series championships. Having an equally commanding record over batting and fielding, he remains one of the most successful shortstops ever.?

CC Sabathia is among one of Jeter’s former teammates to have stayed on as close friends. The six-time All-Star Sabathia was a famous pitcher for the Yankees. He also played MLB for the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) and Milwaukee Brewers. Notably, Jeter and Sabathia lifted the World Series trophy as teammates in 2009.?

Derek Jeter and CC Sabathia have some differences between them?

Derek Jeter once graced CC Sabathia’s podcast show as the special guest. Sabathia co-hosts his podcast titled ‘R2C2’ alongside podcaster Ryan Ruocco. Jeter and Sabathia opened their hearts out discussing various topics, mostly with a light-hearted touch. At one point, Jeter discussed how Sabathia dislikes the sports teams that Jeter supports.?

Though Jeter was born in New Jersey, his family moved to Michigan when he was four years old. So he spent most of his childhood growing up in Michigan. Therefore, having close ties to the state, he always remained a fan of Michigan-based sports teams. Jeter’s support towards the Michigan Wolverines, in particular, remains very well known. However, Sabathia isn’t a fan of those teams.?

Therefore, speaking in the podcast interview, Jeter jokingly said, “Yeah, I’m a big Michigan fan and you know, CC is not a humble fan. It’s true, you know, he’s not humble at all. Anytime one of his teams is doing well, you never hear the end of it. It’s true, but yeah, I’m a huge Michigan fan and he’s a hater.”?

Jeter and Sabathia: A never-ending alliance?

Amidst all the friendly banters, Jeter and Sabathia remained best friends. Sabathia was among the people who personally congratulated Jeter on his Hall Of Fame Induction. Thus, not sharing the same affection toward the same teams would do no harm to a friendship as such.?
