No matter the kind, overcoming addiction is not an easy task. Trying to remain sober is difficult as it is, and to actually remain sober for a year or many is an achievement in itself. Former teammate of Derek Jeter and World Series Champion, CC Sabathia, is one of those people who fought and conquered an addiction.

Sabathia has played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball, most of which were for the New York Yankees. In the first year of getting traded to the Pinstripes, the left-handed player helped his team win a World Series in 2009. Not only this, but Sabathia played the second half of the 2008 season with the Brewers and helped the team into the playoffs for the first time in twenty-six years.
And now, after years of struggle with addiction, the former pitcher is now celebrating seven years of overcoming it.
Teammate of Derek Jeter, CC Sabathia, made a tough decision to improve his life
Having battled many years with alcohol addiction, it has affected almost every aspect of his life. Then seven years ago, the athlete had to make a tough decision not only to overcome alcohol dependency but also to improve his role.
Blessed to celebrate 7 years of sobriety to this day. Seven years ago, I made a decision to improve every aspect of my life. To be a better teammate, father, husband, and friend. Im so thankful to have overcome alcohol dependency and live a healthy life. To many more years 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/a6PzAAD686

Therefore, Sabathia took to Twitter to post a picture of him and his family, to celebrate the achievement, and wrote, “Blessed to celebrate 7 years of sobriety to this day. Seven years ago, I made a decision to improve every aspect of my life. To be a better teammate, father, husband, and friend. Im so thankful to have overcome alcohol dependency and live a healthy life. To many more years.”
While many people congratulated him for achieving this feat, many also told him how sober they are.
